What to expect for this week?: This is a highly anticipated and sought-after class for those who have been wanting to make a splash or more into the colourful world of watercolours. Expect fun activities to help you get acquainted with the range and names of colours on your palette and how to recognise the usage of each colour and their symbiotic relationships with one another. More importantly, this class will allow you to experiment with mixing up colours that you wish to mimic in nature through a series of quizzes and worksheets devised by Lucinda.
What you'll learn: As with each class, you'll learn how to observe, sketch and paint a variety of flora and foliage with pencil sometimes in live observational study. We'll go beyond the basics of simply adding water to the colours and applying watercolours onto templates. You'll develop key skills such as watercolour mixing from tubes of paint and brushwork techniques through close guidance in every workshop.
Where is the art studio?: You'll be painting in a cozy and natural light-filled art studio in a heritage shophouse facing a open-air courtyard of well-loved plants. Refreshments and soothing music will accompany your practice here.
Is it suitable for me?: This class is aimed at absolute beginners and anyone who wants to learn about watercolour with in-depth guidance and tips to improve your work. The aim is to teach you how to draw and paint your favourite subjects and you'll be able to see how your art progresses with the close guidance and constant practice.
What you’ll bring home: For single session of class, you'll get to bring home an A5 botanical watercolour artwork in a 300gm hi-quality paper. For guests who signed up for the 4-class art package, you’ll get a starter-kit of the finest selection of watercolour materials prepared for you to bring home, a brush and a block of A5 300gm paper. Most of the time, you'll also get to bring home the flowers that are freshly selected for you. We almost always work with high-quality tube of watercolour paint from Winsor & Newton, Daler-Rowney Artist Series and Schminke.
Class vacancy: 6-8 guests. Class size is deliberately kept small so that you get individualised attention on how to improve on your techniques and guided step-by-step instructions on how to to draw and paint in class each time.
Duration of class: 2.5 hours. You can choose to attend class according to your schedule. Learning is flexible and tailor-made to your individual needs.
